VULNERABLE SHARE: WOMEN QUESTION MEN

Last week I was a part of an event organized by Evryman (www.evryman.com), an organization that supports men to connect deeper to their emotions, be vulnerable & more embodied.

This time the founders of the group invited women to be present at the event, as women had become curious about what exactly men were doing in those groups & if women should be supportive or concerned.

My experience turned out to be extremely impactful & triggering for my nervous system. And a huge learning opportunity.

I asked questions & put myself in the spotlight, participating in a really vulnerable exercise standing across from a man, looking him in the eyes, & asking for, as per the prompt, WHAT I NEED FROM MEN.

Being vulnerable in front of a group of people isn’t something I shy away from. I’ve done it before.

What I didn’t expect to be faced with following my share was the resentment and even some judgement from a lot of women present in the group.

Of course, everyone has their own experiences that they share from - and project from. And mine was such that I feel lucky (no matter how strange it may sound) that I haven’t been sexually abused, & had warm relationships with my dad & always felt comfortable around men.

“I need your Truth
I need your Authenticity
I need your Power
I need your Open Heart
I need Safety
I need Love....”

That’s my share. My Truth in that moment.

And it was so painful to feel resentment & judgement from my sisters. My deep wound around women got activated. And that is mine to deal with & process, but it was not a pleasant experience.

Nevertheless, my take away is this:

We are so deeply needed for one another - both men & women, & gender doesn’t matter at this point. Being a human is what’s important, & has always been for me. And “the Work”, the healing that we collectively are doing in these challenging times - both men & women - is crucial, and MUST be supported.

Much Love, Iryna
